Day 1: Shimla
Packet with history and heritage and several natural and build attractions, Shimla has long been a favoured holiday and leisure destination. Its easy accessibility, well developed facilities and numerous attractions have ensured its popularity over the decades. The town does not thrive on nostalgia alone and has a youthful vigour in its step. Shimla offers a variety of sightseeing, walks and day hikes by the dozen, several long and short drives around the town, shopping and its inimitable climate. Expectedly, Shimla is steadily becoming a popular conference destination too.
Day 2: Jakhoo Tamlpe
Visit Jakhoo Temple , Viceregal Lodge and State Museum.Lunch at The Peterhof, evening tea at Ashiana Restaurant.
Jakhoo Temple At 2455 m, Jakhoo hill towers over Shimla. Full of history nd architectural charm, there are several houses along its steep 1.5 kms clim that starts from the Ridge. The forested hill is crowned by a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman.
Viceregal Lodge The former Viceregal Lodge is today’s Indian Institute of Advanced Study. Completed in 1888, this is one of the finest British colonial buildings anywhere in the world and combines a variety of architectural styles like Scottish Boronial and English renaissance.
State Museum Himachal’s State Museum has a rich display of the state’s cultural, artistic and archaeological heritage.
Day 3: Giriganga
After breakfast proceed to Giriganga Resort, Kharapathar for lunch and over night stay.Afternoon visit Giriganga (7 kms) is an enjoyable one through thick deodar woods. This is the source of the river Giri Ganga (also called the Giri) that just below the Kupar peak. The river pours its waters into the mighty Yamuna and there is a small graceful shrine at the spot.
Day 4: Chanshal, Rohru
After breakfast proceed to The Chanshal, Rohru for lunch and over night stay. On way visit Mata Hatkoti Temple to pay obeisance to the Goddess.
Hatkoti (29 km, 1400 m). On the right bank of the river Pabbar, this has the classical temples of Hatkoti, executed in the nagara style are a major attraction. The primary temple is that of Devi Durga in her form of Mahishasuramardini, the slayer of the demon Mahisa who stalked the world in the form of a buffalo and the Devi is locally known as `Hateshwari’.Rohru Past Rohru is scenically attractive Chhaupari.
This is secluded spot and has a long ridge that holds a small temple. The view from this point is magnificent and there is a grand display of the peaks of neighboring Uttranchal, as well as those of Kinnaur.
Day 5: Simla
After breakfast proceed to Shimla. Lunch at The Peach Blossom, Fagu.
